Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a bold stance in support of Texas, deploying the Florida National Guard (FNG) to assist the Texas National Guard (TNG) in securing the southern border. Up to 1,000 FNG members, along with Florida State Guard personnel, will reinforce Texas’s efforts to combat the surge of illegal border crossings.

DeSantis emphasized the right of states to defend their sovereignty, declaring, “Our reinforcements will help Texas add additional barriers, including razor wire, along the border. We don’t have a country if we don’t have a border.” The move comes as part of Florida’s ongoing commitment to aid Texas in addressing the border crisis.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, declaring an invasion in his state, received strong backing from DeSantis and other Republican governors. This support intensified after the Supreme Court ruling that allowed U.S. Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire installed by state law enforcement at the border. Despite the ruling, USBP agents have refused to comply, standing in solidarity with Texas.
This isn’t the first time Florida has assisted Texas at the southern border. Last year, DeSantis sent troops and personnel to help defend against the border crisis. The recent deployment reaffirms the commitment of GOP-led states to address the challenges created by the Biden administration’s open-border policies.

In response to Abbott’s appreciation for Florida’s support, DeSantis posted on social media: “We are proud to help Texas fight Biden’s border crisis.” TNG members are focusing on reinforcing areas lacking physical barriers, grappling with a surge in illegal immigration surpassing the previous two years.
DeSantis has mobilized over 1,100 resources, including officers, guardsmen, drones, and vessels, to assist Texas in its border response. He criticized Biden’s handling of the crisis, stating, “The impacts of Biden’s border crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law.”
