Massive Recall: Popular Kitchen Appliance Marked Unsafe!

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on December 14th the recall of over 300,000 PowerXL air fryers. These appliances were sold at well-known stores such as Target, Kohl’s, and Walmart, with prices ranging from $60 to $190.

Empower Brands, the manufacturer of the PowerXL air fryers, is recalling two models – DUAF-005 and DUAF-10. These are the PowerXL Dual-Basket Air Fryers that were available in black and cinnamon colors. The recall comes after several reports of the air fryers malfunctioning during use, including three instances where users suffered burns. The affected models were sold between August 2021 and October 2023.

This recall follows another recent safety warning by the U.S. CPSC for 1.75 million Steamfast Home & Away Travel Steam Irons due to a risk of burns. Vornado Air LLC, the Kansas-based manufacturer of these irons, reported issues with the power cord that could lead to overheating, potentially causing burns, fires, or even minor shocks. The company received nearly 75 incident reports and 18 additional reports of the iron cord sparking, smoking, or catching fire. These irons were available at Walmart, Amazon.com, Bed Bath and Beyond, Steamfast.com, and Vornado.com.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises those who own any of the recalled models to immediately stop using them. For refunds, customers should contact Empower Brands directly. Empower Brands can be reached at 866-704-9370 between 8 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. (Central Time) on weekdays.
