Trump’s VP Pick: Rumors Flying

Since the 2020 presidential election in the United States and the end of Donald Trump’s lone term as commander in chief, the United States has appeared weak and vulnerable in terms of domestic and international politics, and the western world has suffered tremendously because of this fact.

The 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden, has presided over a period of chaos and instability. Since the beginning of Biden’s term, inflation has crushed the American middle class, and the cost of living has skyrocketed. Interest rates have risen sharply, and the cost of housing has reached such colossal levels that home ownership has been deemed unaffordable for median income earners in 99% of the country.

Weak leadership from the White House and Washington D.C. has had repercussions for the rest of the world. After beginning his term as president, Biden removed the sanctions imposed on Russia by the former president Donald Trump and allowed Putin to drill for oil in the North Atlantic. Following this, Russia invaded Ukraine, bringing armed conflict back to Europe for the first time since 1945.

Recently, Biden made a deal with Iran in which billions of dollars in frozen assets were returned in exchange for imprisoned Americans. Possibly emboldened by this, the terrorist group Hamas invaded Israel and murdered 1,000 civilians. Israel responded by declaring war on the terrorists and invaded Gaza.

The situation for citizens is dire within the embattled region. Hospitals within the region remain without food and supplies needed to ensure their operation is also scarce. Many patients have died due to these deteriorating conditions in the Gaza strip, and the war rages on.

The former president Donald Trump currently appears to be the likely Republican nominee for the presidential general election in November 2024. Trump cruised to victory in the Iowa caucus and dominates most national polls. Elise Stefanik, a congresswoman from New York, is a rumored vice presidential pick.
