Pelosi Wants Him Gone! – Guess Who?

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently called for the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling him as an “obstacle” to peace following his handling of a surprise attack by Hamas. On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants attacked the Novi Festival in Israel, resulting in nearly 2,000 casualties and the abduction of hundreds of civilians, many of whom remain in captivity. In response, Israel’s retaliatory actions led to a significant Palestinian death toll, which has stirred international controversy.

In her remarks on April 22, Pelosi criticized Netanyahu’s management of the situation and suggested his actions hindered the prospects for a two-state solution. She referenced the resignation of Major General Aharon Haliva, the head of Israel’s military intelligence, who stepped down admitting a failure to anticipate the attack, suggesting that Netanyahu should also resign.

Echoing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Pelosi supported the call for new elections in Israel. Schumer had previously accused Netanyahu of prioritizing his political survival over the country’s interests and advocated for a special election, believing it reflected the will of the Israeli people. Pelosi defended Schumer’s statements as bold and reflective of a deep commitment to Israel’s future.

Despite their criticisms, both Pelosi and Schumer voted in favor of a substantial aid package to Israel, part of a larger $95 billion bill that also included $61 billion to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

Netanyahu responded sharply to U.S. criticisms by condemning what he described as rampant antisemitism in American universities, likening the situation to pre-World War II Germany. He highlighted attacks against Jewish students and the spread of anti-Israel propaganda on campuses, urging American leaders and citizens to oppose these developments.
