On New Year’s Day, Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to share his outlook for 2024, calling it a “historic” year in a post that read, “Happy New Year. It will be a historic one. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

This message followed Trump’s New Year’s Eve celebration at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. During a speech at the event, Trump clarified the absence of his wife, Melania Trump, from their family Christmas photo. He explained that the former first lady was with her mother, who is seriously ill and in the hospital, wishing for her mother-in-law’s recovery.
In his address, Trump, a GOP presidential candidate, also commented on the current state of the country, describing it as having “gone to hell.” Despite this, he expressed optimism, promising a brighter future and a turnaround in America’s situation.
“My children are here. They’re all here and I just want to thank everybody. We’re going to have a great 2024,” he affirmed to the attendees.
Trump’s New Year message contrasted with his more confrontational Christmas Day post on Truth Social. On Christmas, he criticized various figures and issues, including “Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith,” world leaders, and domestic policies he disagreed with. He accused certain individuals and policies of trying to destroy the United States, concluding with a fiery, “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
