An Oakland liquor store worker resorted to using a firearm for self-defense when confronted by a group of teenagers intent on causing harm.
In a distressing event at Oakland’s Golden Hours Liquor store, a worker found himself surrounded and attacked by a group of teenagers and young adults on bicycles. The altercation began when the mob attempted to enter the store, leading to the employee being slapped and sucker-punched. Fearing for his safety, the worker brandished a handgun, causing the crowd to scatter.
The confrontation took place on Saturday afternoon. The mob’s aggressive behavior quickly escalated, taunting and physically assaulting the employee. He was forced to retreat into the store’s entrance before pulling out the gun for self-defense.
The Oakland Police Department received a call about a suspected shooting at approximately 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, however, they found no injuries. According to video footage, the conflict began when an individual in a red hoodie slapped the employee, followed by more physical assaults from other members of the group.

Local residents expressed their shock and concern over the incident. The video footage, which has since gone viral, depicts the severity of the situation and the immediate threat faced by the employee. “The violence broke out after a teen in a red hoodie suddenly slapped the store owner during a conversation,” reports the Daily Mail.
The footage also captures the chaotic moments when the worker, after being taunted and hit, aimed the gun at one assailant before chasing others away. Despite the tense moments, the employee did not fire his weapon. Nevertheless, the police found evidence of gunfire upon their arrival.
